Warning, this will most DEFINITELY not be a quality blog post for several simple reasons:
1-I only slept for 3 hours last night
2-I’m writing it on an ipad
3-I’m currently engaging in a standoff with tension nearly equivalent to that of a poop stalemate
4- but seriously I normally do my best writing while vaguely sleep deprived but 3 hours?
5- I really wish I could brush my teeth right now but my bag is checked all the way to Lima
6- it’s been a looooong time since I’ve done this…
Well I’m currently in the Toronto airport typing out a blog post on an iPad. Why an iPad you might ask? Simply because there’s a restaurant that dominates all of the international gates, providing free iPads for use and without the requirement of any purchase in return! How fortunate. Why am I writing a blog post instead of napping until my flight boards in an hour? Because some older gentleman sat directly across from me instead of sitting at any of the other free tables and I refuse to be chased away. Although I did briefly leave to go buy some fisherman’s friend, because it’s not a real vacation until I get sick. I’m hoping if I sleep the entire flight to Lima the tickle in my throat will go away.
Ha! Just as I finished writing that the business man left. It was very awkward because the small town part of me wanted to smile and make eye contact, but the tired and introverted part of me wanted to scowl because a strange man sat slightly in my personal space. The struggle is real.
In keeping with the tradition of all my other international adventures that I have complete memories of (RTW, Asia trip to present) my fantastic Grandma Vi drove me to the airport. It was an entirely new feeling however, because this trip turns out to be the first time I have ever left the country completely on my own. I know that for all intents and purposes I am a fairly easygoing and slightly unorganized traveler, but having only really been “gone” for 7 hours I have already discovered that my unorganizedness is ten times worse when I’m on my own. I’m not unorganized in the “I don’t know where my passport is” sense, I’m unorganized in the ” I booked my hotel for tomorrow last night”. Don’t tell my mother guys (just kidding I’m pretty sure she already knows). Luckily I will be doing a G adventures tour for the majority of the time I’m gone, requiring very little extra organization from me!
Well I think that’s all from me for now, enough sleep deprived rambling for one day. I shall attempt another update after I get a full nights sleep in Peru.
bye for now!
Alex
PS- a really cool song to potentially listen to while reading this post is “Luck” by the American Authors. Just saying.
